Slow Jam Sessions

Oct. 2005 - May 2007

October 12, in the Community Room (Fayette Street side) at the Music School from 7:30-9, and will occur every second Wednesday of the month through May. David Surette will coach mandolin and guitar players and I, banjo and fiddle. We ask a donation of $5.

This is the way it works: David and I choose tunes common to the NE fiddle/dance repertory. We play them once at a moderate tempo, and then extremely slowly so all can learn by ear. If necessary, we stop to explain chording, break the tune down by phrasing, and other intricacies. All levels are welcome. And, for the first time, we will have written music available to take home.

Our plan this year is to have a core of tunes that repeats every month so that people can gain expertise, precision and speed. Call or e-mail me with questions and, by all means, send this to your musical friends.
